VIC:Man who carjacked car with baby jailed

A man .. who carjacked two vehicles including one with a three-year-old baby inside
.. has been jailed for more than seven years.

41-year-old BRUCE DOUGLAS CROFT held a knife to a woman .. driving with her baby at
Melton in Melbourne's west in February .. forcing her to go home to get money to feed
his heroin habit.

The next day .. CROFT held up a woman at knifepoint at an ATM .. and the following
day .. carjacked another woman who managed to escape and call police.

This led to a chase during which CROFT drove the wrong way down the Tullamarine Freeway.

He pleaded guilty to armed robbery .. false imprisonment .. robbery and reckless conduct
.. and will serve a non-parole period of five-and-a-half years.
