CENTER FOR ELDERLY PASSES FIRST HURDLE IN CLIFTON PARK.(Local)

A proposal to build a senior citizens' community for what officials realize is a steadily aging population has passed its first official hurdle.

On Monday night,

the Town Board determined that the planned Epworth Manor - a nursing home, day health care and independent housing facility - will not have a negative effect on the environment.

The project is being developed by the Troy Conference Geriatric Foundation, a Methodist foundation, at Grooms and Vischer Ferry roads.

The group already operates the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs.
