Qld: Quinn to replace Soorley as Brisbane mayor
BRISBANE, April 11 AAP - The Labor Party today confirmed Brisbane deputy mayor TimQuinn would replace outgoing Lord Mayor Jim Soorley.
Labor state secretary Cameron Milner said Cr Quinn was the only person to bid for theposition at the close of nominations today.
Mr Milner said he believed Cr Quinn would excel in the role.
"As lord mayor, Cr Quinn has an opportunity to display his own vision for the futureof the city in the lead-up to the next council election," Mr Milner said.
Cr Soorley will retire on May 19 after 12 years in the job.
